Deli Market News, one of the leading food trade websites, recently interviewed Julie Altobello, Sr. Marketing Manager – H&A, to discuss trends emerging around plant-based and better-for-you products.
“Rich’s has been busy developing plant-based solutions to meet the changing needs of consumers,” Julie said in her interview. “We are seeing an increase in demand for whole, or less processed foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds grains and legumes.”
Although some may associate plant-based with diets such as veganism and vegetarianism, these plant-only diets aren’t the real drivers behind the shift in consumer preference.
“The real force behind this shift is mainstream consumers looking to incorporate more plant-based foods in their diet,” Julie stated. “According to a 2017 Health Focus study, 60 percent of consumers stated they were cutting back on meat-based eating. That’s a huge number.”
The article goes on to reference Rich’s success in the marketplace for introducing the first of its kind, Plant-Based Cooking Crème and Seasoned Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheddar plant-based pizza crusts. To read more of Julie’s interview, please check out the full article here.
